Right time … right place … right location to catch memorable sunsets when Mother Nature displays her magic !
When that happens, you just have to grab whatever is handy and capture the moments before they are gone.
The Display
The display does not stay for long; colours change vividly from light to strong – bright to burnt oranges, bright yellows, … then turn dark, deep reds, edging to dark pinks and purples … with scattered gray clouds in the mix …
Depending on cloudy or clear skies; sunsets can be magnificent, vibrant or dull and meaningless … only time will tell what evening it would turn out to be.
Hence, the challenge every time !
Cleveland Point, Qld
Around June, July, maybe August in Southeast Queensland is best time to watch for beautiful sunsets … most of the time. Clouds tend to create moments of fleeting interest … as long as they do not crowd the sky and block the sun …
Broome, WA
In Broom, Western Australia, July-August would be the best time to see magnificent sunsets. Not so cloudy as Southeast Queensland, but stark beauty of cloudless skies with strong hues of yellows and burnt oranges gives sunsets a completely different perspective of beauty …
Sometimes, leisure crafts, fishing boats on water creates interest to images … impossible to predict until you are there to capture the scene.
Dusk
But dusk is most memorable no matter where you are – deepest blues turning to purples … shades of deep shadows against clouds in darkening sky … almost but not black, waiting … just waiting …
Again, totally unpredictable outcomes – could be gorgeous or average … you just have to wait and see for yourself.
Conclusion
It is a delight to photograph sunsets … Why ?
Challenge yourself to capture Mother Nature’s beauty. Or prepared to be disappointed.
No matter how often you take those images – they are never the same.
Reason ?
No two days will give the same sunset images … just does not happen.
Some days may be better than others; you will only know when you are there to take the photos.
P.S. You also don’t have to wake up with the birds to capture sunsets … only when capturing sunrises …
