… Is the Motto for Us All … Dragons’ Reunion!
Dragons … illustrious, mythical creatures … usually apply to those born under this Chinese Horoscope sign.
Also known to be clever, enigmatic, enticing, persuasive, strong, exciting, difficult to predict – especially by husbands!
A reunion of dragons after nearly fifty years for some … is something very, very special …
Humble beginnings … huge drive to succeed … has led to amazing journeys …
Measured by our personal achievements based on sound formative years at Convent of the Holy Infant Jesus (CHIJ), Johor Bahru …
Financial experts, academicians, lawyers, teachers, doctors, commercial gurus, coaches, hospitality service providers, wives and mothers emerged …
Same grounding … different journeys … completely different outcomes … but all equally successful in their chosen calling.
Looking back … those were fun, memorable, care-free days …
… Eating ‘ice-balls’ (shaved ice with or without filling coated with syrup) after school …
… Seeking help for mathematics home-work from our Maths expert …
… Dissecting cockroach heads and bodies in Science class (yuck!) …
… Breeding tadpoles into frogs for more dissection in Science class (double yuck!) …
… Making mango jam, also in Science class (double yummy) …
… Making embroidered towels in Home Science class (so boring!) …
Looking across the dinner table … those same faces are fulfilled, happy … the years have been good to us!
We have attained what we wanted and still able to bridge the fifty-year gap in one evening …just amazing!
Like we have not lost touch all these years … have always been available … and hopefully will continue to be in touch and available to each other …
Time flies when you are not looking …
But this is our time …
Enjoy life when you can … do what you want; not what you have to …
Eat, be merry, have dessert before main course if you wish … but watch the waistline …
Breakfast outdoors … read a book without interruptions …relax at your favourite time of day …
Help others where possible … smell roses along the way…
And keep in touch, no matter where you are …
Until we meet again; thank you for being my friends … Dragons of Johor Bahru!
P.S. Thanks Usha for reconnecting me with the group!
P.P.S. Thanks Karen for organising the get together dinner!
